I have a secret about my career and money.....

A few years ago, I decided and didn’t voice it or tell many people, though a few family members and other individuals knew.

I had attended college after HS graduation, but after a year and a half, I ran out of money, and because I enjoyed the job that I had at the time and didn’t feel like getting student loans was something I wanted to do, I quit school.

All these years later, having quit was weighing on me, and I felt it was starting to get in the way of my career and money opportunities.

Though I had solid experience, many of the career opportunities I was considering required a Bachelor’s degree or additional years of experience.

Financially, my family’s priorities and expenses were covered. Therefore, going back to school had not been top of mind until one day. I had had a conversation with my oldest about not giving up on something he was learning, and for some reason, that conversation kept repeating in my mind. I kept remembering that I had quit school.

So how could I tell my kid not to quit when I had.

That didn’t seem right.

So I decided to go back to school.

It was an uphill battle for me.

It had been years since I had been in school, and now with a growing family and a busy life that consisted of a hubby who worked FT, a four-year-old, and a newborn on top of my own FT job, I hesitated but decided to go for it.

My Bachelor’s journey was not the smoothest, but those are stories for another day.

In October 2020, I completed my last assignment and officially graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management. (Back in the day, I thought I would graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, I’ll explain that change later (wink emoji)).

I debated and had considered it for a while, not knowing if it was what I wanted or needed to do, but in the end, I reenrolled in school a few months later and decided to go for a Master’s degree (😱).
This time around, I was prepared for the classes, they were more in line with what I enjoyed and what made sense to me, and I’m proud to say that I obtained a Masters in Management and Leadership in 7 months!

My journey may not have been super quick, but it is my journey, and I am proud of my accomplishments.

So, if you are contemplating making changes personally or professionally, but are unsure if it’s the right choice for you, then let’s chat and help you break down your situation and provide you with solutions around your career and money.
